Wimereux : not far from Nausicaá, a walk along the Opal Coast shoreline

Whether you’re a nature, heritage or architecture lover (or all three!), Wimereux is one of the unmissable resorts to discover on the Opal Coast. Nestling in Saint-Jean Bay, it has an incredible charm with its Anglo-Norman villas and seawall promenade.

The elegance of the villas, built just a bit more than a century ago, will amaze anyone coming to the resort for the first time. There are still three hundred of them preserving Wimereux’s beauty and reputation.

Three hundred of them that managed miraculously to come out of two world wars unscathed. They’re called “Romance”, “L’Aurore” or “La Tempête” and adorn the town centre and seafront.

And what a seafront it is! The seafront promenade stretches for a kilometre and a half. Here you can stroll with your nose in the air amidst the majestic mansions, pose in front of the typical blue and white beach huts, stop off at one of the many establishments to sample the local flavours or simply indulge in an ice cream.

A sporting town

Sports enthusiasts and families will appreciate the multiple activities proposed by the Club Nautique (CNW). Sand yachts, catamarans, paddleboards, kayaks at sea or on the Wimereux (the river that gave the resort its name), sea-wading, guided walks and even yoga on the beach… There’s something for everyone whatever their age. Lively all year round, Wimereux also has a real town centre with committed catering artisans and pretty, independent boutiques.

An ideal place for walks

Lastly, Wimereux enjoys exceptional natural surroundings. Wooded valleys, dunes and even cliffs are all within easy walking distance. There are several sign-posted paths that start in or pass through the resort.
