Sailing, a sport that respects the environment
This activity is proposed for children and adults, for beginners and more experienced sailors alike.
A shared passion however: the desire to skim across the water driven by the wind and currents! This is a complete sport suitable for everyone: if you decide to learn to sail, you'll learn loads of things about the weather, the wind, the sea… In addition to the theoretical knowledge, there's the essential practical aspect. You'll have to hoist and trim the sails to make headway.
Sailing is a sport that will allow you to discover a new scenery… while respecting the environment ! If you prefer ecoresponsible holidays, this watersport will come up to your expectations. And if you want to gain a deeper knowledge of the oceans, head for Nausicaá and its exhibitions, that will raise your awareness regarding the preservation of biodiversity. For an immersive experience, think of the behind-the-scenes visit of the centre, an ideal activity for all the family.
Wimereux Sailing School, an École Française de Voile training centre!
You want to learn all about sailing? The Club Nautique de Wimereux is the place to go to, just a few kilometres to the north of Nausicaá, the French National Sea Centre, in Nord-Pas-de-Calais. Moreover, the Wimereux beaches are part of "Les Deux-Caps Blanc-Nez, Gris-Nez" site, an area with the Great Site of France label, which promotes responsible and sustainable tourism. It's therefore in a perfect setting in the heart of the Opal Coast that you're going to go sailing!
Founded in 1957, Wimereux Sailing School has the École Française de Voile label. You'll therefore be able to take courses and one-to-one lessons given by professionals who will advise you and give you the benefit of their experience. Whether you're on your own, with friends or your family, you'll be able to choose between an Optimist (a small dinghy for one person), a funboat (a little catamaran appreciated for its fun aspect), a catamaran or a sailboard. The keywords? Safety, pleasure and progress!
Sailing… but not only!
The Club Nautique de Wimereux is the place to do a multitude of other ecoresponsible sports:
Stand-up paddle consists of surfing, standing on a big board using a paddle to propel you. Besides making the most of the scenery and boarding sustainably, you'll top up with energy.
Sand-yachting will allow you to use the wind to propel you. Sitting in a wheeled vehicle, you'll be able to achieve high speeds on the long sandy beaches. No particular physical fitness required for this sport that you can do from the age of 12.
Kayaking is a watersport that will allow you to discover some unique sites in Wimereux, that are only accessible via the little river. While respecting the environment, you will be able to enjoy a refreshing, fun activity.
Sea-wading or aqua-trekking is a very popular sport in northern France. This activity will help you improve your muscular and cardio-vascular strength - and all this in a friendly atmosphere! Each person advances at their own pace and makes the best of a moment of wellbeing. The conditions are ideal in Wimereux: the walks are generally organised on Saint-Jean Bay, from Fort de Croix to La Rochette.
You're looking for ecoresponsible activities during your stay in the Boulogne area? You can book them on-line in just a few minutes. Wimereux Sailing School, ideally located on Boulevard Alfred Thiriez, also proposes the rental of equipment and accessories, such as wetsuits. And don't forget to book your accommodation.
